“Children cannot bounce off the walls if we take away the walls”
- Erin Kenny
communication thrives when children feel safe, connected, and engaged in meaningful experiences. that’s why brave roots takes therapy beyond four walls—into the natural world, where curiosity, movement, and sensory-rich environments create the ideal setting for growth and learning.
every child is unique, and their therapy should be too. brave roots is grounded in a child-led approach - fostering intrinsic motivation, confidence, and meaningful communication that extends beyond our time together. by embracing each child’s natural way of learning, we create a space where they feel valued and empowered.
regulation is key to communication and learning...whether it’s swinging, engaging in heavy work activities, exploring different textures, or simply taking mindful moments to observe the environment, these tools create a foundation for successful communication and learning. when children feel safe and regulated, they are better able to express themselves, engage with others, and develop confidence in their abilities.
our therapy sessions take place in a beautiful, peaceful setting designed to foster exploration and comfort. the space includes a lawn for space to run, kick, and build as well as wooded acre for shade, sensory experiences and exploration. the majority of the property is fully fenced-in, ensuring a safe and secure environment for children to explore freely. for those who enjoy animal interactions, gentle animals are also part of the experience, offering additional opportunities for connection, engagement, and therapeutic interaction.
