why a package pricing model instead of contracting with insurance plans?

It has always been a goal for this practice to provide accessible, equitable and quality care to all children and families whom I work with. After over a year of contracting with insurance companies, it has become clear that the broader insurance structure is not compatible with this goal. I believe that the services provided should be based solely on the needs of your child, not the decision making or red tape of an insurance company. I anticipate more progress in less time under this model as well as development of a truly personalized plan that does not require specific formulation to insurance’s medical model terminology and restrictions.

how do video visits work? platform? how do I know if this service option is right for us?

we will recommend video visits only if appropriate for you and your child’s needs! this recommendation will be determined based off your child’s evaluation as well as access to reliable technology.

we use a HIPAA compliant telehealth service through our g-suite agreement! if you prefer a different platform (i.e. zoom, google, facetime, messenger, etc.), you will be asked to sign an agreement as most are not HIPAA compliant.

is it really possible to target all my child’s needs outside? what about rain?!

It is really possible! a  review (click to read full article) submitted to the journal “frontiers in psychology”* summarizes how contact with nature improves the following: learners’ attention, levels of stress, self-discipline, interest and enjoyment in learning, and physical activity and fitness. these improvements are highly likely to boost one’s ability to learn.

in other words, the research is starting to catch up with what so many have been claiming for years – experiences with nature promote learning!

we have a covered learning space outdoors for the occasional drizzle and will ensure flexibility as it relates to rescheduling due to weather concerns/safety (aka we will not be doing therapy in a hurricane or ice storm).

what are your hours? how to we set up services?

our hours are relatively flexible! we prioritize offering after school times and a half day on saturday for easier scheduling around typical work hours. contact us via email, phone, social media, and/or the “contact us” form on the website to get things goin’.

we are working toward ensuring all spaces are ADA compliant. we are currently creating wheelchair friendly paths in our woods and have already built four raised beds that are wheelchair accessible so that all can partake in the harvest!

how much are animals incorporated into therapy?

animals can be incorporated as little or as much as is desired! we have two cats, two dogs, a beehive, and chickens joining this spring.

if allergies or fear are a concern, rest assured - we can always put the animals up or not engage with them during the session.

do you accept evaluations from other providers or schools?

yes, we accept comprehensive speech and language evaluations from other providers as well as individual family service plans (IFSP) and individualized education program (IEP).

we can use these report(s) to jump right into therapy!

what do you mean by group options for both children and/or parents?!

we like to offer dyads (pairs of two) or group therapy options when warranted, especially when building social relationships and learning about emotional regulation.
additionally, we offer connection groups for parents/caregivers only as well as caregiver and baby hours - see our services page for more information.
